Shamima Salie

B.A. (Economics) M.A. (Financial Economics) ATCL

They say teachers are born and not made. This is what makes Shamima, a teacher from birth an invaluable asset and addition to Hameed Brothers’ team of External Directors. As the eldest daughter of Tufail Salie, Her commitment and dedication to the success and growth of the family business is unparalleled. Shamima hopes to put her studies in Finance and Economics as well as her stellar teaching career to good use by helping steer the company’s financial direction while creating a culture of diversity based on acceptance and empowerment of women in the organization.

Shamima is currently a full time teacher in English and Economics at the British School in Colombo, prior to that she has held similar teaching positions at the Royal Institute and Musaeus College. Shamima graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Financial Economics from the University of Colombo.

Tasnim Salie

BSc.(Business Administration) ACMA ACCA ATCL

Tasnim embodies all the traits of a 21st century woman in the workplace. Her brilliance and dynamic corporate persona makes her an invaluable asset to Hameed Brothers and a role model to its female workforce. In her current capacity as an external director, she works together with her sister Shamima and her Brother Afthab to ensure that Hameed Brothers grows from strength to strength backed by the caliber of leadership that it needs to face the increasing and modern challenges of the corporate world. Tasnim hopes to leverage her experience in the fields of Investment and Finance to guide the company’s investment decisions and manage its financial portfolio.

Tasnim is currently the Associate Vice President of Amba Research, a leading Investment Research Firm in Sri Lanka and she is also reading for a qualification in CFA. Prior to joining Amba, Tasnim held positions at Asia Capital Investment Bank as a Senior Investment Analyst and at SJMS Associates as a Business Analyst.

Tasnim graduated from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. She is also a Chartered Accountant with an ACMA and ACCA qualification.

Afthab Salie

BSc. (Management Science) MSc. (Management) ATCL

As the eldest son of Tufail Salie, Afthab is being groomed to take over the reins of the family business after his father, who has been both an inspiration and guide to Afthab’s understanding of the challenges within the business environment. In his current capacity as an External Director of the Company, Afthab works in tandem with his siblings, Shamima and Tasnim to further expand Hameed Brothers’ scope and global reach while overseeing its Operations and Investments. Afthab hopes to leverage his Management studies and keen Entrepreneurial acumen to guide Hameed Brothers away from a Family Business to a truly Global Organization.

Afthab graduated with a Master’s Degree in Management and Entrepreneurship from Cass Business School at City University in London and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Management Science from the London School of Economics. He’s currently employed as the Business Planning Manager at Standard Chartered Bank in Sri Lanka. His previous work experiences include a stint at Brandix Textiles as an Account Manager and a Senior Business Analyst at Stax Inc., a Strategy Consultancy based in New York.
