Tufail Salie | Managing Director

Tufail Salie started his business career in an office he shared with his father Mohamed Salie in Grandpass, Colombo. He worked with his father for 15 years, learning the ropes and improving his business acumen in the local commodity trading sector before entering the competitive world of exports in 1977.

In his current role, Tufail oversees all of the company’s businesses and leads a team of dedicated men and women to achieve the company’s goal of becoming one of the most successful family run businesses in Sri Lanka.

Tufail is an old boy of Royal College in Colombo. He is married with four children and is an avid swimmer and squash player in his spare time.

Ruwise Salie | Operations Director

Ruwise Salie joined his elder brother Tufail following the completion of his studies in 1980 and together the brothers have been running Hameed Brothers for the past 30 years. Ruwise deals with suppliers providing rubber, coconut and other export material to Hameed Brothers by negotiating the best terms for their products. He also heads the group’s Melamine business and is a director of the transport and warehousing businesses.

Ruwise is an old boy of D.S. Senanayake College in Colombo and is married with 3 children. He enjoys jogging and spending time with his kids during his spare time.

Kusum Kuruppuarachchi | Export Manager

Kusum is very much the glue that holds things together in the Export Business. Between dealing with the company’s export requests and the two Salie brothers’ endless directives, Kusum’s day is spent running around the office like a chicken with its head cut off. She’s an invaluable member of the organization and one of its oldest staff members. Kusum is responsible for handling all export requests coming into the office and ensuring that they are processed and passed through the pipeline swiftly and efficiently.

Noordeen Mohamed | Finance Manager

Noordeen is Hameed Brothers' oldest employee, but his brain and hand is far from retirement age. He is a finance manager, internal auditor and financial advisor all bundled into one and is responsible for the finances of all of Hameed Brothers' businesses. Noordeen is responsible for ensuring that the company has enough liquidity to operate by ensuring a smooth cash flow and is also responsible for ensuring that the accounts are maintained accordingly.

Samiappan Ramachandran | Manager (CityRest Motels)

Rama is the newest member of the management team. With many years of experience managing several motels across Colombo and outskirts, he takes over management of CityRest Motels to ensure that it is run to the highest of standards as per the company’s objectives. His primary responsibility is to manage the CityRest motel at Old Moor Street and liaise with the management at Hameed Brothers, which oversees its corporate affairs.
